After the many days of hazy skies earlier this summer I find myself appreciating days when the sky is blue. On my daily walks I fall into a

Blue Sky Daze

of appreciation gazing up at the sky as often as I look at the nature around me. This morning the sky was filled with huge puffy white clouds. I wished that I could find someplace above the treeline to photograph the sky filled with the gigantic awe-inspiring clouds.

Here’s a poem that talks about seeing the sky above the treeline…

Above Treeline

Everywhere I turn,
the measureless sky,
wild open sky,
deep bluing,
unencumbered sky,
and how is it
it enters me
and fills my lungs
with vastness,
steeps my mind
in spaciousness,
slips immensity
into my cells,
and I, who
have been stone,
who thought I knew
something of
what a life is,
I feel myself dissolve
into blue
as if it’s the only
thing I could do.
When I leave,
the blue comes
with me.

What I See

Each day I see things in nature that surprise and amaze me. Sometimes something in my house that I’ve looked at more than a thousand times will capture my attention. This morning it was the shower curtain in the master bathroom. I found myself getting lost in it’s calm colors and undulating stripes of white.

So I photographed it and then I combined it with a photograph I made with my phone on my morning walk.

An interesting nature sighting appeared this week in our front yard. The Japanese lilac tree has a late blooming cluster of flowers right beside seeds from the earlier June blossoms. Did it get confused? Or is it this just a late bloomer appearing in its own sweet time?

Late Bloomer

Circles of ripples appeared and dissipated over and over the other morning in the pond. I don’t know the cause of the ripples but they fascinated me.

Wishing you many joy and wonder filled blue sky daze days in August.

May you walk in beauty.
