The signs of fall are all around us — brightly colored leaves, birds migrating south, leaves falling, and colder temperatures. Isn’t it beautiful?

I’m writing a short post for

A Quick Hello

today.

I’ve got lots of things planned for today but wanted to send out a few photos and a poem to brighten your day.

Have you ever listened to bird song with awe and appreciation? When I was growing up on the farm we always had wrens nesting near the clothes lines behind the house. And when I hung out clothes to dry I got to hear their them singing often. For tiny birds they have a mighty voice. Here is a poem by Mary Oliver about wren song…

He was positively drenched in enthusiasm,
I don’t know why. And yet, why not.
I wouldn’t persuade you from whatever you believe
or whatever you don’t. That’s your business.
But I thought, of the wren’s singing, what could this be
if it isn’t prayer?
So I just listened, my pen in the air.

Have a beautiful day!

May you walk in beauty.

This tree across the street from us never fails to amaze me in the fall

Leaves floating on the surface of the pond
