It seems that as we turned the calendar page into May we also turned to a new page in the arrival of spring. The return of warmer temperatures, a weather forecast that does not include frost or snow, and sunny skies overhead has me

Letting Go

of a whole lot of stress that I wasn’t even aware I was carrying.

May has arrived, bringing a deep sigh of relief to my body. Ahhhh.

Today I walked in the wildflower garden at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. I took my garden kneeling pad along and whenever I saw wildflowers in bloom I got down on my knees to photograph them. It felt good to be so close to the damp woodland earth with it’s scent of life awakening.

Over the Weather

We forget about the spaciousness

above the clouds

but it’s up there. The sun’s up there too.

When words we hear don’t fit the day,

when we worry

what we did or didn’t do

what if we close our eyes,

say any word we love

that makes us feel calm,

slip it into the atmosphere

and rise?

Creamy miles of quiet.

Giant swoop of blue.

A Slow Unfolding

The trees still look mostly bare, but if you look closely you can see the leaf buds swelling and growing.

And the pasque flowers in the prairie flower garden haven’t yet opened their blossoms. They look like Martian visitors with their fuzz covered buds.

Along with noticing what was in bloom (scilla, hepatica, blood root, wild ginger, daffodils, snow trillium, forsythia, and crocus flowers) I noticed the many flowers and trees that I might expect to be in bloom this time of year that were not yet blooming.

I saw magnolia buds on one magnolia tree but no open flowers. The tulips are only about 3 inches tall and they look like it will be quite awhile before they bloom. There were no crab apple blossom buds in sight either.

The day I understood everything, was the day I stopped trying to figure everything out. The day I knew peace was the day I let everything go.

But I expect that with the warmer temperatures we are expecting this week that a lot will blossom within the next two weeks.

Is your body also breathing a sigh of relief with the warm sunshine today? Are you letting go of stress that you didn’t even know you carried? Each day is a gift waiting to be opened. Let yourself breath deeply and relax into this day.

May you walk in beauty.
