Sometimes I feel a little blue on cloudy, rainy days. This morning when I looked out my office window and saw the symmetry of the emerging leaves on the little hydrangea tree I didn’t see the clouds. I saw green everywhere I looked. Greens always look greener to me when the skies are cloudy.

Everywhere I looked all I saw was beauty. All I felt was wonder and gratitude for the beauty all around me, even in my own front yard.

Even on a cloudy day

In the springtime

I see beauty

I photographed the tree through my window and then stepped outside with my camera to get up close.

Clusters of perfect textured green leaves stand at attention. Soon they will grow and unfurl more but today I am appreciating them just as they are.

I headed to the deck to look out at the back yard’s greens. The lilac buds keep growing. Soon, I think, soon they will burst into fragrant bloom.

And the leaves of the lilacs are so pretty and perfect right now. They have not taken on their darker green colors yet. Instead they’re sporting the latest in subtle spring green.

The leaves are finally emerging on the basswood tree beside the deck, again wearing lovely spring green colors.

Take a moment to gaze out your windows today. What do you see? Which shapes, colors and textures catch your eye? How many different shades of green can you see?

Wishing you well today and sending prayers for healing and comfort to those who are suffering, and wisdom for our leaders.

May you walk in beauty.
