I don’t know about you, but being in nature helps restore my soul. Today I share with you photos I made on two recent walks, one in my neighborhood by myself a day ago, and one walk with my daughter at Richardson Nature Center this morning. I didn’t take along my “big girl” camera intentionally. But I did have my phone along and as always I found little scenes of beauty that lifted my spirits.

Between the beauty all around me, connecting with my friends and family, and the comfort food we made it through this past week of sorrow and destruction and chaos in our city.

Comfort Food and Other Healing Things

I hope these nature scenes lift your spirits also. Last week was difficult here in Minneapolis. I’m not sure what this week will bring. I suggest that you treat yourself and others with great compassion now and in the coming weeks. Maybe it’s a good time to make a list of comfort food and other healing things you can do to help soothe an aching spirit. Take time to meditate if you can. Get out in nature as often as you can. Reach out to friends and family if things become overwhelming.

In time like these here is what I know for sure:

  • We need to take care of one another
  • And we need to take care of ourselves
  • Occasionally comfort food is medicine
  • Nature heals
  • There are many good-hearted people in the world. Spend time with them. Be one of them.
  • Music heals. Listen to something that helps lift up your heart
  • Social media often does not help. Take a break if you need to
  • Social distancing and wearing a mask in public spaces (especially stores, offices, and indoor spaces) is an act of generosity to others in these days of pandemic.
  • Pets are a wonderful source of comfort

Gracie planning to leap to my lap very soon

May you walk in beauty. May you be at peace in this ever-changing world.
