In March – May 2017 I spent almost 3 months in the north woods photographing the beauty I found there. I created a short video from some of the images I made during that adventure. A dear friend of mine composed and played music to be used with the video. We recently decided to release this video

Into the Wild

So here it is for anyone to watch and enjoy. I think it’s a great meditation or relaxation tool.

Each image I make feels like a prayer flag I’ve hung out to the universe — a celebration of nature’s wonder.

Winter arrives early in Northern Minnesota

and lasts well into April and sometimes May

I just heard that Ely, Minnesota, where I stayed to make these images had 8.5 inches of wet heavy snow last night and this morning. The cabin where I stayed was without electricity for almost 24 hours and the tree branches were weighed down almost to the ground on many trees. The photos that my cousin-in-law posted today were beautiful but I was so grateful to be here and not there for this snowstorm. I wonder if they are able to get to the main road yet or are still snowed in. The cabin sits on 50 acres out in the forest beside the Burntside River. It can take a few days for the snowplow to make it out after heavy snowstorms.

May you walk in beauty.
