spread light

It’s been a quiet slow week for me as I’ve been a bit under the weather with a virus. Today I thought I would spread light by sharing some inspiring quotes and poems.

“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.” – Hafiz

Mindful

Every Day
I see or hear
something
that more or less
kills me
with delight,
that leaves me
like a needle
in the haystack
of light.
It is what I was born for—
to look, to listen,
to lose myself
inside this soft world—
to instruct myself
over and over
in joy,
and acclamation.
Nor am I talking
about the exceptional,
the fearful, the dreadful,
the very extravagant—
but of the ordinary,
the common, the very drab
the daily presentations.
Oh, good scholar,
I say to myself,
how can you help

but grow wise
with such teachings
as these—
the untrimmable light

of the world,
the ocean’s shine,
the prayers that are made
out of grass?

In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again

      — Navajo prayer

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton

May you walk in beauty. May you spread light.
