spring equinox

Can you see it? The way winter is leaving and spring is asserting itself day by day?

Spring Equinox

Today is spring equinox and the last super full moon of 2019!

It’s been a long challenging winter. I am so happy that the weather has taken a turn towards spring. The days are bright and above freezing. Snow is slowly disappearing. Spirits are brightening. I am filled with gratitude and experiencing joy and wonder each day.

“Something in the air this morning made me feel like flying. . . ”

Spring Flight”
Eileen Granfors, And More White Sheets: An expanded text edition

Here are some signs of spring I am experiencing:

  • I’m hanging out on the deck in my shirt sleeves in the sunshine and breeze

  • The remaining leaves are falling off bushes and trees making lovely paintings in the melting snow

  • Puddles and dirty snow are everywhere

  • Joy is rising — I feel it in the trees in the backyard and in the blood pulsing in my veins

  • The nights are above freezing finally

  • It’s maple syrup season

  • We can see our mailbox from the house again

  • More and more walkers are appearing on city streets and paths

To the Thawing Wind

Robert Frost, 18741963

Come with rain, O loud Southwester!
Bring the singer, bring the nester;
Give the buried flower a dream;
Make the settled snowbank steam;
Find the brown beneath the white;
But whate’er you do tonight,
Bathe my window, make it flow,
Melt it as the ice will go;
Melt the glass and leave the sticks
Like a hermit’s crucifix;
Burst into my narrow stall;
Swing the picture on the wall;
Run the rattling pages o’er;
Scatter poems on the floor;
Turn the poet out of door.

May you walk in beauty.
