Oh heavenly days!

It’s the best time of the year!

I love, love, love this time of year. And this year because I missed it last year (when I spent March – May in Ely, MN) I am appreciating it more than ever.

You would think that as I see spring after spring in my life they would get old. Never! The older I get the more of a miracle it all seems. And since I’ve been making photographs my wonder and awe continue to grow. It’s so amazing to me to have photos of bare trees covered with snow or bare gray and brown landscapes one week and then in what feels like a very short time have a green-covered world with  flowers popping out in a rainbow of bright colors.

Reveling in sights, sounds, scents

This morning I spent time on the porch swing soaking in all the scents, sights, and sounds. It was wonderful! Lilacs in bloom at the edge of the deck wafted their sweet scent my way on a light breeze. Wood ducks swam in the pond. Two Canadian Geese gabbled in the back yard. Turtles sunned on a log at the edge of the pond. Bird song filled the air and spring peepers peeped loud songs by the pond.

The scent of flowers in the air makes me happy. Warm sunshine, ducks in the pond, bird song all around, spring peepers peeping (loudly), soft breezes, shades of green everywhere —it doesn’t get any better than this.

It’s been a full week for me so I wasn’t able to get out photographing all of the beauty as much as I would have liked. But here are some photos I made at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum early this week.

What’s your best time of the year?

May you walk in beauty.
