Breathing Space

This morning I breathed a big sigh of relief when I saw the midterm election results. I’ve never prayed about an election before this one. But I prayed a lot during the past days. I didn’t ask for a specific outcome but rather I simply asked that the results be for the highest good for the world. And along with a breathing a big sigh of relief this morning as I read the early election results I felt that perhaps we had a little Breathing Space for our democracy and for the world as we face so many challenges. A Question of Time

Recently I heard an advertisement on public television that suggested that time is the one thing in life that there is not enough of. Then the ad goes on to suggest that one of the best ways to spend one’s precious time is by traveling the world and learning about other cultures. And interestingly I found several that intrigued me enough to give them a second look. For example I remember being very interested in the willow tree shown above when I photographed it at the edge of the lagoon near Medicine Lake. But when I looked at it afterwards it didn’t have the grace I remembered being struck with when I made the Read more…

A Work in Progress

Those of you who know me well, have heard the saga of our seemingly never-ending basement remodel. It began over three years ago and though it is not yet done, I can see the light at the end of the remodeling tunnel. Next week our new carpet will be installed. Afterwards,I am looking forward to sitting in front of the fireplace and feeling cozy and warm this winter. One thing I’ve learned during this remodeling process is that just like our basement, I am very much A Work in Progress I’ve learned a lot about patience, respect, and trust Read more…
