The kind of day for dreaming and relaxing

Quote of the day: “All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together.” —Jack Kerouac Today was a dreamy sort of day with gray skies and intermittent rain. I went for a short walk around part of Lake of the Isles between rain events today and the light was spectacular. On cloudy days, the greens of nature take on a glow that is wonderful and the raindrops create lovely patterns of light. This afternoon, I worked on photography and writing projects, a perfect dreamy way to spend the day. Here are some photos from my morning walk. When Read more…

Friday Abundance, Gratitude, and Bliss

Quote of the day: “To be alive──is Power.” ― Emily Dickinson,  The Complete Poems  This has been an ordinary week full of ordinary miracles—life! the Full Catastrophe!—feelings of joy, laughter, regret, anticipation, savoring, and sadness. Every feeling, every sensation is a miracle. Being alive! Is such a miracle! Each moment an opportunity to experience and learn! Linking with love to Liv Lane’s Little Bliss List.  My bliss list this week: Sunday morning, I went to Lyndale Peace Garden. How often do you CHOOSE to see Beauty?

“Beauty is not a deadener but a quickener and it alerts and awakens our heart to what is true and good and unified. The experience of beauty is like a homecoming. John O’Donohue Beauty: The Invisible Miracle When our youngest daughter was three, we had her favorite playmate, Brian, over to our house to play one fine spring day. We had just moved to a new house and our Read more…

Seeing Beauty in the Fading Flowers

Quote of the day: ““Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” ― Anne Frank As spring’s panoply of apple blossoms, tulips, and wildflowers begins to wither and fade, I feel a little sad. When I love something a lot, I want to hold onto it and make it last longer. I’m working on loving each unique moment of the different phases of life and appreciating the ebb and flow—appreciating everything— the fading flowers and the little deaths that occur each day as well as the new buds and fresh new flowers. So today, I’m savoring warm, Read more…

Tuesday Texture Play

Quote of the day: “The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.” —Carl Jung Yesterday I had some fun playing around with textures. I used Kim Klassen textures. I’ve created a trio of Gerbera Daisy photos with added textures. The steps I used to create this photo are: Duplicate background layer with blend mode of Soft Light at 100% Add a layer of kk_and ThenSome (one of my favorite Kim Klassen textures) with blend mode of Soft Light at 100% Read more…
