Today as I walked the path down the hill from my house I thought of the song, To Everything There is a Season. And the refrain

Turn, Turn, Turn

kept circling in my brain. As I watch a few leaves begin to turn and the days get shorter I feel the turn of the season beginning.

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under HeavenA time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A timе to gather stones togethеr

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late

This is one of my favorite songs from way way back. And here’s a video of Judy Collins and Pete Seeger singing it…

Preparing to say Goodbye to Summer

But I do feel a little sad as I prepare to say goodbye to summer. For some reason (I don’t know why) this time of year when the season turns from summer to fall is often a difficult season for me health-wise. And though I wouldn’t call what I’m experiencing now difficult, I’m definitely noticing more pain issues than just a couple of weeks ago.

Still, I am stronger now than I was when spring arrived and I am able to take hikes in my beloved woods whenever I want. Life is good.

Home Improvement Projects

Jon has been working hard on finishing up putting up wood paneling in our basement. It’s year 3 now of the project and finally we think we can see the end in sight.

In early September we have a crew coming in to paint the downstairs ceiling. We’ve had a measure done for carpet installation. And Jon has found some pre-finished crown molding, trim and baseboards that he will install after the carpet is in place.

I’ve been doing all I can to help but that mainly consists of checking measurements with him, talking through each panel’s layout before cutting, and opening and closing the patio door for Jon to take out tools and setup to cut the wood panels. Sometimes I also hold the new panel in place while he uses the nail gun to secure it to the wall.

Speaking of home improvement projects, here is a photo (through the trees unfortunately) of a neighbor’s backyard garden that I would love to have in my backyard. It would keep the deer and rabbits out and I think it’s quite attractive as well.

What projects are you working on as summer wanes? Are you also feeling a little bit sad about the end of summer?

May you walk in beauty.
