Three Geese on Medicine Lake, ice still on part of the lake

Today I thought I would take you along on

A Walk at French Regional Park

Yesterday I bundled up in layers, hat, and gloves and took myself over to French Regional Park for a walk with my camera. Though the wind was chilly I was happy to be out walking on the paths and beside Medicine Lake.

Marsh area still has some ice

As I walked the paved path over two bridges to the lake, part of the marsh was thawed and part still frozen.

Sky and tree reflections in water along the path

I could see reflections of the sky in the water along the path.

Blue skies reflecting in the marsh stream along with remnants of winter's ice

Everywhere I went I heard geese honking, sometimes just a single goose, sometimes a chorus of geese raising a ruckus.

Goose on the ice, another goose in the air

And I saw pairs of geese, sometimes close together, sometimes moving apart.

Call and Response

In this call and response

of love, waves and bird

songs speak to my true

nature. Ocean and osprey,

mockingbird and me all

share a common tongue.

Essence touches essence,

soul connects with soul.

It isn’t the differences

I see but unity,

Spirit bestowing countless

names on wonder.

Curved shoreline of Medicine Lake

The curve of the shoreline felt graceful and beautiful, even though most of the lake was still covered with ice.

View across Medicine Lake, taken from a low angle

From a low angle, the view across the lake made everything look far away.

A pair of geese landing in Medicine Lake

A pair of geese coming in a for landing in the open water near the shore makes me smile.

View of ice covered Medicine Lake through bare trees

The view through the bare trees and mostly ice covered lake is stark and beautiful.

A lone bench looks out at Medicine Lake

If it was just a bit warmer I might think about stopping to sit and gaze at the lake for awhile.

Canada Geese in Medicine Lake

Finally today, I’m sharing a pair of photos of the pond behind our house. I made the top photo yesterday morning, the bottom photo near sunset yesterday afternoon. Look how the ice receded in just a single day. It is a reminder that much goes on beneath the surface that we cannot see. Things seems to stay the same for a long time, then suddenly change, when in reality the change was happening all along and just became visible at the end of the transition.

May you walk in beauty.

A note to those who view these blog posts through email subscription: Recent changes in the Mac Operating System are preventing my photographs from being viewed on Macintosh Computers and Apple iphones using the most recent operating system. I am searching for a solution, that will once again display my images in emails. In the meantime, you can visit my blog online to see the photographs.
