I was sitting in our living room, reading and basking in the sunlight streaming through the windows when I saw a small candle holder lit with sparkles of light. Then I looked out the window at the light on the pond and it too twinkled and sparkled.

Sometimes the light…

lifts me up, fills me with a sense of wonder and delight, and makes me feel connected at a cellular level to all that there is. It reminds me that we are all made of stardust and that we will someday return to mingle with other stardust before becoming something new and different.

That’s all I had to say today. Even at this time of the year when the sun seems to begin its move towards the horizon in mid-afternoon, there are beautiful moments of illumination that I treasure. As I count my blessings today, I count sunlight, the movement of light during the day, and all of the different kinds of light from softest sunrise peaches and pinks to the deep calm blues of twilight.

And though I may have shared this poem on my blog before, it feels like a good day to share it again…

“Still, what I want in my life
is to be willing
to be dazzled—
to cast aside the weight of facts

and maybe even
to float a little
above this difficult world.
I want to believe I am looking

into the white fire of a great mystery.
I want to believe that the imperfections are nothing—
that the light is everything—that it is more than the sum
of each flawed blossom rising and falling. And I do.”
Mary Oliver, House of Light

Have a light-filled week my friends.

May you walk in beauty.
