It’s Saturday and I’ve been walking outdoors almost every day this week. What a lovely March we are having! Most of the snow has melted from our yard and we are entering the season of sticks and mud. I couldn’t be happier. In fact, my spirit is soaring on the change of seasons, and anticipation of spring’s arrival
What Makes Your Spirit Soar?
On top of the good weather we’ve been having, yesterday I got my first COVID-19 vaccine shot! Yay!!! I have been talking to my body, telling it that this is a good thing and encouraging my body’s immune system to do its work. Every time I feel the soreness in my arm, instead of feeling grumpy about the soreness I think, “It’s working. It’s working.”
In my artistic life I’ve been working on some new layered images and thought I would share a few of them with you here today. As I was going through photographs from years past I found this image that made me smile yesterday. I was lucky to see a group of migrating monarch butterflies one fall at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge.
There are a few things in life that always make my spirit soar — springtime, butterflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds, trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, birds on a wire, flowers in bloom, the scent of flowers, and birds flying high overhead.
It seems to me that all of us would experience more joy if we focus on things that make our spirits soar. Right now I hear about so many people feeling tired and fed up with staying home. If we can just hang in there a few more months we may begin to see life return to normal. Think about the return of spring. Spend as much time as you can out in nature. Notice the little things that are going right in your life.
Today is your day to dance lightly with life,
sing wild songs of adventure,
invite rainbows and butterflies out to play,
soar your spirit, and unfurl your joy.
— Jonathon Lockwood Huie
May your spirit soar today and always.
May you walk in beauty.
