Yesterday I went for a walk at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. I was surprised by how beautiful I found the stark landscape. This time of year is not yet spring but not winter either. It feels like the times we are living in…

The In Between Time

With more and more of my friends happy to report that they have received the COVID-19 vaccine we are all wondering what the spring and summer will bring. It feels too soon to celebrate victory over this deadly virus that has changed our world, but it also feels like a breath of hope is swirling around us just as a breath of spring is also in the air.

I am scheduled to receive my first dose of the vaccine later this week. Though I never thought I would be excited about getting a shot, this time I am. Recently, in the check-in time of an online yoga class I take, a physician who was working in the ICU of a local hospital reported to the group, “I’m exhausted and worn down beyond belief, but each time I need a little dose of hope I go downstairs on my break where they are giving the COVID-19 immunizations. I just stand around and watch. Everyone is happy there.”

So here we are with this breath of hope in the air. My daughter tells us that our grandchildren are asking, “When will Grandpa and Grandma have their vaccine?” They are so wanting to be able to spend time with us again, as we are longing to spend time with them.

It’s still the in between time. And we still need to be careful. But spring is coming and so (hopefully) is a brighter time for everyone.

May you walk in beauty.

It is very lovely to name this time as in between! Some might say, “neither here nor there!” It is being created as we speak and giving itself away as we stand and watch! 🙏

Oh, I like the idea of it being created as we speak and giving itself away…so lovely. Thank you.
