My amaryllis flowers are wilting more and more. But still I am finding beauty in their fading beauty. Just as I find beauty in people of all ages, I find beauty in all stages of a flower’s life. Yesterday I played around with making double exposures in camera of a wilting flower and a new amaryllis bud with leaves standing tall.

When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.

Double Exposures and More Flower Play

I was surprised with how my first double exposure turned out with the white background on the bud blocking most of the flower behind the bud in the double exposure. So I tried doing the process in Adobe Photoshop to simulate a double exposure and see more of the background flower. I’m not sure which one I like better.

Tuesday through Thursday I participated in an online photography class. Mostly it was disappointing, not what I expected at all. But one idea that I took from it was the idea of doing double exposures. I still have a lot more to learn about this technique and plan to do many more explorations with it. Though I have played with double exposures before it’s been a long time ago. And I have some new ideas on what I would like to create.

Imagination makes you see all sorts of things.

You never know where new inspirations come from. One way is to seek out classes, books, and videos. Being open to seek out learning is a good way to keep your work fresh and to stay inspired to continue to grow and explore your medium.

What do you do to keep your interest in creating alive?

May you walk in beauty.

Another double exposure made with lower exposure.
