Yesterday felt like

A Perfect Day

It was February when we last got together for a family gathering — Jon and I, our oldest daugher Katee and her husband Cory and their two kids, and our youngest daughter Kristi — and it felt like forever.

So after assessing the relative risk we all felt we had (not a lot since we don’t work, our daughters and son-in-law work from home and our grandkids haven’t been in school since sometime in March) we decided to plan a get-together at our house. I had lawn chairs ready in case we decided to gather outdoors and prepared an easy lunch meal that everyone liked.

The weather was gorgeous and we had the house windows wide open so no one felt the need to gather outside. We didn’t do anything particularly exciting. There were hugs all around (many many hugs!), lots of laughter, games, conversation, a walk with my granddaughter and son-in-law, gentle breezes, good food, and joy, so much joy.

After everyone went home I finished reading a good book and hung out on the deck swing, enjoying the lovely weather, green leaves of the trees, and gentle breeze caressing my skin. How blessed I am! What gratitude I feel!

What would your perfect day be like?

May you walk in beauty.
