Quote of the day: “When you look at a field of dandelions you can either see a hundred weeds or a hundred wishes.” — Unknown author

_MG_9237As we were out driving this week we came upon many lawns filled with dandelions in full bloom. They were so beautiful!

If I had chosen to look at the dandelions through the eyes of most home owners, all I would see are weeds that spread like wildfire. But when I looked without any thoughts or judgments all I could see was beauty.

When my kids were young, we moved to a small twin home with a large sloping back yard that was filled with dandelions. As my daughter and her 3 year old friend and I walked up the sidewalk to our home, her friend’s eyes got big and he shouted with delight, “You have the most bee-utiful yard I’ve ever seen!”

Wishes or Weeds?

I don’t know about you but I’d rather see wishes than weeds, even if I still go out and dig up dandelions from the front lawn.

If I was smart I’d grow them for their greens, make dandelion wine out of their flowers, and gather and dry the roots to make dandelion tea. All parts of the plant are nutritious and useful. Hmmm…

It’s all in how you look at it

Practice looking through eyes of beauty and wonder. It makes life so much more enjoyable.

Here a few other spring photos to brighten your day.
