Quote of the day:

We are the source of all that we seek.

Love. Safety. Provision.

Generosity. Kindness. Spaciousness. Joy.

Creative delight.

We are that.

We are all of that, and more.

All That and More

Earlier this week, I attended an event sponsored by the local Live Your Legend chapter (inspired by Scott Dinsmore’s Live Your Legend blog).  The whole purpose of this group was to help people “change the world by doing work you love.” (Scott Dinsmore)

Since I totally believe that the world would be a better place if everyone found a way to do what they love and I have found much happiness doing that myself, I was curious about the Live Your Legend group.

It was an interesting event, a little chaotically crowded into a lovely tea house room.  I met a diverse group of people of all ages. I had been afraid I would be the only boomer in the crowd but I wasn’t.  Some attendees were dreaming of discovering and pursuing something they were passionate about, others knew what they wanted to do but were stumped on how to make a living doing it, and some had created either a “side hustle” or a business doing what they loved but needed help and support or wanted to help and support others on their journey.

Afterwards, when my daughter (who has attended several Live Your Legend events) asked me, “What did you think of it?” I really had to pause and think.

Hmmm… what did I think of it? Why did I really come to this event? What did I learn?

Here is what I think I learned

Some are lessons I’ve learned before but it never hurts to be reminded…

  1. Everyone has a dream

  2. There is no magic bullet

  3. We help ourselves by helping others

  4. If you don’t know what to do, pick one thing and do it. Evaluate. Repeat

  5. Connecting with others helps inspire me

  6. Listen to your own heart, not what someone else says you should do

  7. Sometimes you’ve got to live into your passion – you need to know yourself and befriend yourself

  8. I am the source of all that I seek just as you are the source of all that you seek

I truly believe that we are all creative and that our purpose is to simply be who we are.  Sometimes it takes a lifetime of overcoming the childhood messages that tell us we aren’t enough. But when we learn to let our own light shine, it is beautiful!
