Luscious

I picked up a bouquet of flowers at the Farmers Market yesterday. There were so many in the bouquet that I couldn’t fit all of them into a single vase. What fun I’ve had arranging them and photographing them. It’s a Luscious bunch of flowers! Other words that come to mind to describe them are sumptuous, resplendent, jazzy, vivid, dazzling, cheerful, luxurious, enchanting, and gaudy. I am soaking them in and celebrating their beauty as the season slowly turns to fall. It is on days like these that I would like to stop time, and savor the beauty of the Read more…

Photographing Frozen Flowers

Yesterday I worked on Photographing Frozen Flowers I picked a cluster of begonia flowers, immersed them in a container of water and put the container in the freezer. Later, when the water was completely frozen, I removed the block of ice from the container, placed it on a glass plate and began making photographs. Though I have seen other flower photographers’ images of frozen flowers, this is the first time I’ve tried it. I always have a hard time taking something so beautiful and alive and hastening its demise. It was only because I picked only a small sprig of Read more…

Wandering With Camera

This morning I took a walk at Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove, MN, with my camera. Bikers and walkers passed me by as I stopped here and there to look more closely and make photographs. Perhaps she got more enjoyment out of the walk than I imagined. I often call my walks more of a Wandering With Camera since I stop often and get lost Read more…

Imagination

Yesterday while finishing up preparation for the painters’ arrival today to paint the downstairs ceiling and bedroom, I made a few photos of a hummingbird through my kitchen window. And I also photographed the flowers of a pretty little begonia plant. The photos didn’t look like much to me when I first downloaded them to my computer, especially the somewhat blurry hummingbird photos. But with the help of Imagination I transformed them and added them to my collection of photos featuring Mary Oliver quotes. Later this week I plan to print a few of them and see how they look Read more…

Sail Away

Happy Labor Day my friends! What a string of gorgeous days we’ve been having. Doesn’t it just make you want to Sail Away to somewhere beautiful? I didn’t make the hang gliding photographs in this post. They are of my son-in-law doing one of the things that he loves (taken by a friend of his). And I offered to edit them for him, bringing up the shadows as much as I can. I love the sense of freedom I feel when I look at him gliding through the sky. Though I know I don’t have the skill or strength to Read more…
