A Leap Into Summer

Looking around at all of the fully green trees and feeling the heat and humidity returning, it feels like we have taken a rapid A Leap Into Summer seemingly overnight. Today I packed up a small picnic lunch, a book, and my camera and headed to West Medicine Lake Park for a shady picnic and a bit of walking around with camera. Bits and Pieces

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Yesterday we celebrated our forty-fifth wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren so I haven’t been out and about with my camera for awhile. Nothing To Do But Breathe

This morning as I was meditating I found my mind going in a dozen different directions at once (not at all unusual for me). And then through the cacophony of thoughts I heard a voice in my mind that said, “There’s Nothing To Do But Breathe, that’s all you need to do.” So I breathed and I watched my thoughts flit here and there and I breathed some more. The Scent of Lilac

I love The Scent of Lilac, apple blossoms, lily of the valley, and many other sweet-scented flowers. For the past few days when I have spent time on my deck swing breathing in the scent of the lilac that has grown up taller than the deck. It blooms every year and every year I live in gratitude for the scent of lilacs for several fragrance-soaked days. Down by the garden shed the fragrance of lily of the valley flowers fills the air. Holy Curiosity

Yesterday I finished what might be the last edits on the essays I wrote for my photo book project. The book is called, “Looking For God,” and it’s about Holy Curiosity, the kind of curiosity that makes one feel wonder, awe, and grace in ordinary scenes from nature. I’m so happy to have completed the selection of photos for my book, ordering of those photos, and writing the essays and text for the book.
