Photo-Heart Connection – Keep It Simple – Create for the Joy of Creating!

Quote of the day:  “Remember to delight yourself first, then others can be truly delighted.” This was my mantra when I published my first book in 1990, and still holds true. When we focus on the song of our soul and heart, then others will be touched similarly. Sometimes people wonder or worry whether people will like or approve of their creative expression. It’s none of your business. It’s your business to stay present and focused for the work of your deepest dreams. It might look crooked or strange, or be very odd-but if it delights you, then it is Read more…

Tuesday Texture Time

It’s Tuesday so that means Texture Tuesday at Kim Klassen Café. I hadn’t planned to link up today but then I had some time to play with photos I made last night in downtown Minneapolis. I thought it would be fun to mix up my texture play with something other than my usual flower or nature shots. In the first photo I made a copy of the background layer using soft light blend mode at 100% opacity. Then I added the text using the font “My Underwood” from dafont.com at 93% opacity. An Evening Photo Walk Downtown

Quote of the day: “What day is it?” asked Pooh. “It’s today,” squeaked Piglet. “My favorite day,” said Pooh.” ― A.A. Quote of the day:  “When you become vulnerable, any ideal or perfect image of yourself falls away. (…) Many people are addicted to perfection, and in their pursuit of the ideal, they have no patience with vulnerability. (…) Every poet would like to write the ideal poem. Though they never achieve this, sometimes it glimmers through their best work. Ironically, the very beyondness of the idea is often the touch of presence that renders the work luminous. The beauty of the ideal awakens a passion and urgency that brings out the best in the person and calls forth the dream Read more…

The Art of Seeing – Week 9

Quote of the day:  “AT MY SEMINARS I often ask people to join in a greeting shared by the Zulu people of South Africa. The greeting is an invocation spoken in two parts. One part is Sikhona, which means ‘I am here to be seen’; and the other part is Sawubona, which means ‘I see you.’ ” — Robert Holden This week my photography learning goal was to fulfill an “assignment” that I drew randomly from Doug Beasley‘s Vision Quest Cards: Photo Assignments For Personal & Spiritual Growth. I drew the card, “Make a self-portrait using a reflection in water or a window (not in mirror) with Read more…
