Life is a Gift

Yesterday was the most amazingly beautiful day! In the early morning I spent time at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum photographing the tulips and wildflowers. Then I came home and edited the photos I had just made and did my weekly Soma Yoga class (live online). In the afternoon I re-connected with a longtime ago next-door neighbor who has become interested in pursuing photography. It was a beautiful day that reminded me that Life is a Gift! I love this short season of spring blossoms so much! Springtime feels like such a time of expansion and growth. Wildflowers are in bloom, Read more…

Visitations

I love where we live! Every day we have Visitations from birds, ducks, geese rabbits, squirrels, and turtles in our front and back yard. Yesterday I noticed a family of mallard ducklings in the pond. They were so tiny that I think they must have just hatched sometime earlier that same day. This morning during the rain, a pair of Baltimore Orioles visited my bird feeders. They ended up liking the little hydrangea tree that grows near the feeders more than the feeder themselves. I was lucky enough to have my camera with long lens attached, at the ready. All Read more…

Shades of Green

This morning I celebrated blue skies and Shades of Green as I looked out at the pond behind our house and the trees beside our deck. I decided to play around with using my 100-400 mm lens with 1.4 extender to photograph what I saw. With the early morning sunlight back-lighting the leaves and the len’s long reach I was able Read more…

Life Unfurling

I went for a walk yesterday morning in my neighborhood before the rain arrived. On my walk I was looking for tiny scenes of beauty, little scenes of Life Unfurling as nature’s spring unfolding speeds up. And I found life unfurling everywhere I looked. One time I accidentally hit the shutter release on my camera as I was moving and later discovered an (un)intentional camera movement photo that expresses how quickly the seasons turn. Even with gray skies above and a moist feeling of impending rain in the air I found beauty all along the path I walked. New leaves Read more…

Light Everywhere

I went for a short walk at Big Willow Park this morning. And even though it is an overcast day, what I saw as I walked was Light Everywhere even in the shadows. New life was emerging, old life decaying, birds singing, geese honking, and new leaves unfurling on trees beside the path. When I go out in nature I feel a sense of wonder and presence, life unfolds before my eyes, light and beauty radiate from everything, and my soul expands. You don’t need to be a photographer to experience light everywhere. You simply need to slow down and Read more…
