Bee Balm and Wildflowers

This morning after the rain I headed over to nearby French Regional Park for a short walk. I wanted to take advantage of the cloudy “soft-box” skies before the sun came out. In the meadow area near the drive into the park I found a sea of Bee Balm and Wildflowers in bloom along with lots and lots of bumble bees buzzing from flower to flower collecting pollen. At first glance the wildflower area didn’t look terribly photogenic. There were masses of wildflowers and “weeds” tangled along the path. Embrace Everything

Yesterday morning we had unexpected rain. It changed my plans for the day and at first I was a little unhappy about it. But then I reminded myself to Embrace Everything, even the parts of life that may be painful or challenging in some way. Despite the rain I made a visit to the Hopkins Farmer’s Market and bought lots of fresh veggies. And I found time during a lull in the rain to drive out to Noerenberg Gardens. Here Now

Yesterday on my walk at Lake Camelot Park I noticed a dragonfly gliding through the air near me. I stopped and waited, watching. Ordinary Days

And earlier this week Jon and I explored a bit at the Elm Creek Reserve Park in Maple Grove, Minnesota. It is a large park filled with wetlands, trees, and green as far as the eye can see. There are lots and lots of bike trails and we saw many bikers on those trails. The park seems to be a popular place to Read more…

Embracing Impermanence

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to stay centered and calm in these challenging times. After giving in to despair a few times over recent political and environmental events I’ve come to realize that I need to practice Embracing Impermanence, accepting what is, and finding beauty and grace in the world around me. I cannot live well in a state of constant worry and judgment. And I realize that by giving in to worry and judgment I am contributing to the already polarized dysfunction of our culture, country, and the world. My being worried and upset contributes nothing good Read more…
