The sun is shining and the snow that fell for several days is beginning to melt despite the cold temperatures outside. The angle of the sun this time of year has power!

I had a recurrence of vertigo last night. Every once in a while my balance goes wonky so I’m moving carefully today. But despite this little setback I am determined to

Make a Joyful Noise

on this bright beautiful day.

The ranunculus flowers that I bought last week are still beautiful though some of the flowers are beginning to wilt a bit around the edges. For days I worked photographing individual flower blossoms. So today I decided to put them together into a single vase.

If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it.

   — Mary Oliver

I fiddled and fussed moving flowers this way and that. Though I can’t say that any of my arrangements are really good I love the layers and shades of pink and different shapes of all of these lovely flowers.

Pink is a joyful color, a happy color. And making photographs of beauty is my way to make a joyful noise today.

My soul is a hidden orchestra; I know not what instruments, what fiddlestrings and harps, drums and tamboura I sound and clash inside myself. All I hear is the symphony.”
Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet

How do you make a joyful noise?

May you walk in beauty.
