This weekend I am working on preparing to teach a
Flower Photography Workshop
at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts Saturday, February 17.
So I thought I would share some of the flower photos I made this week and a few photos that I’ve made during the past year as well. I’ve been playing with photographing amaryllis flowers all of January. Now, though the flowers are faded and withered I am still finding beauty in them.
Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small it takes time – we haven’t time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.”

Though flower photographs often look simple and beautiful, I have found that taking effective flower photographs is an art that must be learned and practiced.
My flower photography workshop will consist of part lecture about what I’ve learned about making flower photographs and practice time to work on making flower photographs.
Join Me in Learning More about Photographing Flowers
If you’re an aspiring flower photographer and are interested in learning more about how to express the beauty you see in flowers, hop on over to the Minnetonka Center for the Arts Winter Catalog Workshops page. Look for the workshop called Flower Power: Photographing Flowers that will be held Saturday, February 17 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Speaking of classes, it’s also getting close to the beginning of the Spring 1 session of the Making Photographs class that I’m teaching at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. Classes run from Wednesday, Feb. 28 to Wednesday, April 17 from 9:30 – 12:30 AM. In this class we talk about various aspects of making beautiful photographs, starting where the students are and helping them grow and learn. Each week we talk about a different aspect of photography and look at student responses to weekly photo assignments and discuss ways to strengthen their skills.
May you walk in beauty.
