It’s Friday and
Today
seems like a good day to take a day off from rambling, writing and making photographs. So I’m sharing a poem and a few photos from earlier this week; also a snippet of a song I heard Ann Reed sing last night on her semi-weekly online concert from her home. Take these gifts into your weekend and spend some time at ease.
First the poem…
Today
Today I’m flying low and I’m
not saying a word
I’m letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep. The world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
And so forth. But I’m taking the day off.
Quiet as a feather.
I hardly move though really I’m traveling
a terrific distance.Stillness. One of the doors
into the temple.— Mary Oliver
And now the song snippet…
From now on
Cash and carry
Can’t be paying o’r time.
Get no credit for undone moments
And the dreams left behind. And because of all that
Life gets simpler in fact.Right this moment
You don’t know it
But you’re standing prepared.Learn to breathe.
When to heal.
Find what can be and cannot be healed. From the crest of the wheel
Life gets real.— Ann Reed, from the song Life Gets Real
Note: The lyrics as I heard them, I may have missed or mis-heard bits and pieces of it.
Have a beautiful weekend.
May you walk in beauty.
