It seems that the rain has stopped for the day but I wouldn’t complain if it rained all day. Today I am singing

In Praise of Rain,

thankful for the recent rains we’ve had.

When I go outside for my walks after a rain I feel as if I can palpably sense the relief and joy of the trees and plants. And as I read news reports of floods, fires, and terrible heat I  feel so grateful for the weather we’ve been having in Minnesota this summer. Even though much of the state has been experiencing a drought, the trees and plants are still green. We are not facing days and days of 100 plus degree heat nor are we facing massive floods, fires, or tornadoes.

Counting blessings and feeling blessed is a tonic for the soul. So is showing your soul.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it.
Clarissa Pinkola Estés

How do I Show my Soul?

I try to show my soul through the photographs I make and the words that I write. It is a continuous journey of discernment and discovery. How much sharing about my challenges is helpful? Do those who read my posts want to hear still more about joy and wonder and beauty? What about all of the challenging things that are happening in the world?

To take the world into one’s arms and act towards it in a soul-filled and soul-strengthening manner is a powerful act of wildish spirit.
Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves

In the end I come back to what brings me joy and what my soul is saying on any particular day.

How do you show your soul? Are you also singing in praise of rain today?

May you walk in beauty.
