Everywhere I look as I walk the paths of my neighborhood—seeing fiddle-head ferns, pine cones, lichens on a fallen branch—I find beauty! Join me for
A Walk in my Neighborhood
and see the beauty that is hiding in plain sight all along the path.
What We Need Is Here
Geese appear high over us,
pass, and the sky closes. Abandon,
as in love or sleep, holds
them to their way, clear
in the ancient faith: what we need
is here. And we pray, not
for a new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart, and in eye,
clear. What we need is here.— Wendell Berry
New leaves are beginning to emerge.
Lichens of different colors cover a fallen branch with patterns and both soft and bright colors.
A robin spreads its wings at the edge of the path.
Last year’s hydrangea flowers have fallen beside the path. Each petal is textured and lacy.
More leaves emerge brightening everything around them.
A papery pine cone nests in fallen leaves while a new green plant emerges beside it.
One of the first plants to get leaves and form blossoms each spring fills me with joy.
Though it’s a rainy day for a walk, this dog and its companion are also beautiful additions to my walk.
Note: And in my own backyard, Blue Winged Teal Ducks!
