After days of working on my first hand-made sample book and other projects last week, this week I’m feeling like
Slowing Down
and spending some time simply being present and quiet. My body is feeling a little achy and tired and my mind is feeling fuzzy and slow. Snow is falling outside my office window (still/again/seemingly forever) and the skies are gray. Fortunately, though it’s been snowing most of the day, very little has accumulated. Thank goodness for small blessings!

This morning I read, exercised, and made a new breakfast cookie recipe filled with oatmeal, pumpkin seeds, ground flax, banana, dried cranberries and more. It was a delicious change. For lunch I finished off a recipe I tried earlier this week for a bean/grain bowl. It was delicious — wild rice, roasted onions and veggies, pinto beans, avocado, picante sauce and spices. I’m feeling lucky and virtuous — lucky because my gut is allowing me to eat these high fiber foods and virtuous because I’m working hard on eating more vegetables and fiber.
I re-visited the photographs I made on Monday at the Como Conservatory and found a few more that I like. But I haven’t worked on my book project for several days and I don’t plan to work on it this week.
I find that I need time between spurts of creative work, especially this time of year. So I am listening to my body and heart and resting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.– Mary Oliver
It’s a good time to cocoon at home with a good book.
May you walk in beauty.
