The first snowfall of the season always seems

Pretty Cool

to me or I could say, “Cool and pretty?”

What I especially enjoy is the colorful fall leaves coated with an icing of fresh snow and the way that the snow usually melts within an hour or two. Looking out my windows yesterday morning was such a treat! (Because I knew that the snow would melt soon and that winter was not arriving yet.)

I picked up my camera to photograph the beauty of the new snow on the trees while I was still in my nightgown because I knew the snow would melt quickly. Every day I give thanks for the view we have from our house. With the pond and the park area beyond I feel as if I live in the middle of a park. This is what our backyard looked like yesterday morning.

I saw some photos from near Ely, Minnesota yesterday morning and they were quite beautiful. It looked like they had more snow there than we did but it also looked like it was going to melt quite quickly.

Great Gratitude

When I look around at the beauty of the world around me and consider all of the blessings in my life I wonder, “How did I get so lucky to live here now when so many around the world are suffering so deeply?”  I am full to the brim with gratitude and joy, here, now, in this moment. And I keep remembering the words of a teacher I once worked with who said, “Our job is to fill up and hang around.”

Whenever I feel helpless to make a dent in the suffering around the world, I remember that. And I hope that by filling up with gratitude and joy I am generating something positive to add to the world no matter how small.

How are you this mid-October day my friends? I hope you too, are enjoying the beauty of each moment.

May you walk in beauty.
