Yesterday while finishing up preparation for the painters’ arrival today to paint the downstairs ceiling and bedroom, I made a few photos of a hummingbird through my kitchen window. And I also photographed the flowers of a pretty little begonia plant.
The photos didn’t look like much to me when I first downloaded them to my computer, especially the somewhat blurry hummingbird photos. But with the help of
Imagination
I transformed them and added them to my collection of photos featuring Mary Oliver quotes.
Later this week I plan to print a few of them and see how they look as prints. The transformation from a ho-hum image into something that I love has surprised me. I didn’t believe that I could “rescue” these images.
For example, here’s one of the humming bird photographs.
You can see the sidewalk in the background and the wooden beam that borders the flower garden. Though the head of the hummingbird is sharp I wish that the wings were not almost completely blurred out.
In this form I like the image and appreciate the improbable beauty of the hummingbird. The next image is even blurrier but I like it.
Do whatever brings you to life, then. Follow your own fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.
