I don’t have much to say today. But I’ve been enjoying photographing a bunch of tulips that I picked up at the Food Coop on Friday. So today’s post is
Just Tulips
and a little bit of joy, happiness, and kindness thrown in.
Why I Wake EarlyHello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who made the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and the crotchety –
best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light –
good morning, good morning, good morning.
Watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.— Mary Oliver
Our family got together at our house yesterday for lunch and game day. Once a month we try to gather here, have an easy lunch together and then play card and board games together.
Simple things like getting together, telling stories and jokes, and playing games together can bring such connection and joy.
Oh the laughter and joy!
The kids are constantly teaching us new games. Some of them move so fast that Jon and I sometimes just sit there looking stunned and asking, “What just happened?” This sends our grandchildren into gales of laughter. And then we’re all laughing together.
One of the joys of getting older for me is learning to laugh at myself and not take myself so seriously. I’m learning to embrace my imperfection.
When was the last time that you sat down and played games just for fun?
May you walk in beauty.
