Though we still have a lot of snow in the front yard, much of the back yard is snow free!

The Melt is On!

Every day I see changes all around the house and in the neighborhood. On my daily walks the paths are mostly clear of ice though there are some deep puddles here and there. The pond is showing more and more melt water at the edges. And this morning a pair of mallards were checking it out.

What a difference two weeks can make this time of year. This morning the birds were very active at my bird feeders.

I hope that doesn’t mean that they are sensing bad weather on the way.Let’s hear it for spring weather and rain. (No snow please!)

We’re working on much needed sorting and getting rid of things we no longer need. So I may be making fewer photographs and writing fewer blog posts in the next few weeks.

Spring Cleaning

We still have boxes of things from Jon’s mother who died just before we bought this house (over 17 years ago). I think it took us both a long time to be ready to part with her things. At any rate, we are trying to finish up the basement make-over this year. And that means that most of our stuff needs to be out of the basement before painting the ceiling and putting down new flooring. It’s amazing how much stuff we have!

I also need to do a good cleaning and re-organization of my office. I’ve accumulated a lot of things since my last big cleaning a couple of years ago. Each time I go through old treasures that I thought I didn’t want to part with, I discover that I am willing to part with more and more.

I’ve been surprised at how tiring it is to do this kind of cleaning. Perhaps I’m feeling my age. And perhaps it’s tiring because I don’t like doing it. At any rate, every time I think about buying something new to bring home, I’m going to think about all of the stuff we already have. And then hopefully, most of the time I’ll not bring something new into the house unless something old goes.

Wishing you a beautiful week my friends.

May you walk in beauty.
