Early this morning my bird feeders were filled with
So Many Birds!
Gracie was enthralled watching them. They flitted from the small nearby hydrangea tree to the feeder and back again. At one time I counted at least a dozen of them, all jockeying for a position at the feeders.
I saw some common redpolls at the feeder today among all of the other goldfinches, house finches, chickadees, and nuthatches. This was the first time I’ve noticed them at the feeders. It seems that the milder weather that was predicted is arriving and the birds know it. Hurrah!
What Gorgeous Thing
I do not know what gorgeous thing
the bluebird keeps saying,
his voice easing out of his throat,
beak, body into the pink air
of the early morning. I like it
whatever it is. Sometimes
it seems the only thing in the world
that is without dark thoughts.
Sometimes it seems the only thing
in the world that is without
questions that can’t and probably
never will be answered, the
only thing that is entirely content
with the pink, then clear white
morning and, gratefully, says so.— Mary Oliver, Blue Horses
This afternoon I stopped at Bachman’s to pick up a bouquet of Japanese iris flowers. I’ve already begun photographing them and hope to have a few images to share with you tomorrow.
May you walk in beauty.
The images below are photos I made last year and re-worked this morning with added texture and a toned B&W treatment.
