I awakened this morning to a

Spectacular Sunrise

The sky was dotted with pink clouds as far as my eye could see. And intense pink light tinted the backyard trees with a surreal glow. It was AMAZING!

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.”
William Blake, Auguries of Innocence

The spectacular light lasted only a few minutes. But those few minutes were glorious!

It was a “fifty shades of pink” morning.

And I ran out to the deck barefooted with my camera to photograph the wonder of it all.

As I look out my window now I can hardly believe that it is the same sky, so blue and mundane with soft banks of soft white-gray clouds all around. Life is like that, with spectacular miracles sandwiched inside mundane ordinary days.

“How sweet the morning air is! See how that one little cloud floats like a pink feather from some gigantic flamingo. Now the red rim of the sun pushes itself over the London cloud-bank. It shines on a good many folk, but on none, I dare bet, who are on a stranger errand than you and I. How small we feel with our petty ambitions and strivings in the presence of the great elemental forces of Nature!”
Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories, Volume I

It brings me joy to notice the spectacular moments and savor them with all of attention. In the midst of the mundane, beauty waits for those who have eyes to see it.

Wishing you a day filled with ordinary miracles and beauty.

May you walk in beauty.
