It’s dahlia season again! And I found a bouquet of dahlias at the Food Coop today. They are so
Lush!
“A flower does not use words to announce its arrival to the world; it just blooms.”

I could spend hours examining dahlias from every angle, high and low, looking for a view of them I’ve not quite seen before. Though I often prefer softly scented shyer flowers, dahlias are like gaudy showgirls dancing in the garden. There is nothing subtle about them. They shout out joy with their bright colors and tousled layers of petals.
September is dressing herself in show of dahlias and splendid marigolds and starry zinnias. October, the extravagant sister, has ordered an immense amount of the most gorgeous forest tapestry for her grand reception. — Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.
Hurrah for the gaudy showgirls of late summer! They are so worth the wait. May their lush layered beauty brighten your day today.
May you walk in beauty.
