Today is the first day of spring! And here in Minneapolis the weather is going to be mild and beautiful today. What a gift! How will you spend this day my friends? I hope that you will spend at least part of your day outdoors enjoying the sunshine and balmy March weather (temperatures predicted to be near 60 degrees F).

Hello Spring!

The pond behind our house is beginning to thaw. Each day I can see a little more open water at its edges but each night a skim of ice freezes over the open areas. Yesterday I saw a that a female cardinal has a nest in our neighbor’s miniature evergreen tree down by the pond.

There were two mallard ducks in the pond behind our house last night. And I saw two wood ducks and two geese swimming yesterday in the pond down the hill on the other side of our street.  I am getting out for a walk almost every day and loving my time in nature. This afternoon we are heading over to Stillwater to take a walk with our grandchildren (wearing masks)! It will be our first time spending time together since last summer!

“sweet spring is your
time is my time is our
time for springtime is lovetime
and viva sweet love

(all the merry little birds are
flying in the floating in the
very spirits singing in
are winging in the blossoming)

lovers go and lovers come
awandering awondering
but any two are perfectly
alone there’s nobody else alive

(such a sky and such a sun
i never knew and neither did you
and everybody never breathed
quite so many kinds of yes)

not a tree can count his leaves
each herself by opening
but shining who by thousands mean
only one amazing thing

(secretly adoring shyly
tiny winging darting floating
merry in the blossoming
always joyful selves are singing)

sweet spring is your
time is my time is our
time for springtime is lovetime
and viva sweet love”
― e. e. cummings

Viva le printemps! (Viva spring!)

Have a beautiful day.

May you walk in beauty.
