Today is
A Bright New Day
Happy inauguration day! What a long four years we’ve endured. I believed when Trump was elected that he would do great harm to our country. But I never imagined how much harm he would do.
While things are not going to change overnight in our country and many challenges remain, I have hope that we all can help turn towards love, kindness, racial justice, and concern for the environment. The road ahead will not be easy. And change will not happen if we all rush to return “life as normal” whatever that is. We need a new normal.
The question is, “What would love do?” If we love our neighbors as ourselves, if we love the earth that supports and sustains our lives, if we love life, what would love do? It’s easy to pontificate and proclaim. But it’s difficult to slog through the hard work of change.
My prayer for today is simple, “Please help me remember to ask myself what would love do. Please help me stand and act on the side of love.”
May you walk in beauty.
Four years ago on January 21, 2017 I joined the Women’s March in St. Paul, Minnesota. The photos in today’s post are from that march.
