Yesterday I spent time contemplating the beauty of
Small Things
like the curl at the edge of a perfect white iris petal and the perfect tiny pleats of the petal itself. And I realized that one should never underestimate the value of small things and tiny moments of grace that often go unnoticed in our daily lives.
“Listen, whatever you see and love— that’s where you are.” – Mary Oliver
Walking through my days noticing these small things with great beauty and feeling gratitude for them is a gift.
“Ten times a day something happens to me like this – some strengthening throb of amazement – some good sweet empathic ping and swell. This is the first, the wildest and the wisest thing I know: that the soul exists and is built entirely out of attentiveness.” – Mary Oliver
Yes there is a lot going on in the world to worry about if you choose to fill your days with worry. But there are also small things with great beauty and tiny moments of grace in every life.
Everyday Grace
Here are some things that have brought me joy and everyday grace this week:
- Brené Brown Unlocking Us podcast Brené on Strong Backs, Soft Fronts, and Wild Hearts
- OnBeing’s new Poetry Unbound site where you can immerse yourself in listening to a single poem
- Minneapolis Art Institute Foot in the Door online exhibit featuring Minnesota artists who submitted their art for this once every 10 years exhibit.
- Lenscratch 2020 Vote Photography Exhibit is filled with imaginative and creative photographs on voting.
Wishing you a lovely weekend my friends.
May you walk in beauty.
