Yesterday we decided to drive down to Big Willow Park for a walk. When we got there it’s small parking lot was almost full! Lots of people decided to go out for a walk.
Big Willow Park
We saw a few people on the trails while we were out, always maintaining a distance between us. It felt odd, but the smiles, waves, and comments from afar were warm and friendly.
It was still cold enough that the ground was mostly frozen with a little bit of sloppy wet on the surface of the trail. In a few days the trails here may be squishier and messy. I didn’t see any spring ephemeral wild flowers popping up yet. But I expect them soon!
Early Spring
Harshness vanished. A sudden softness
has replaced the meadows’ wintry grey.
Little rivulets of water changed
their singing accents. Tendernesses, hesitantly, reach toward the earth
from space, and country lanes are showing
these unexpected subtle risings
that find expression in the empty trees.
I love the line in this poem, “Tendernesses, hesitantly, reach toward the earth from space…” I am seeing tendernesses reaching out towards those who need assurance or help or food in this unusual time of covid-19. If you are need of tendernesses, please reach out for help.
Meditation teacher, Tara Brach has uploaded a lovely talk, “Facing Pandemic Fears With an Awake Heart” on the InsightTimer meditation app. I haven’t listened to it yet, but Ms. Brach is one of my favorite meditation teachers and I always find her words helpful and soothing.
