Because it’s a winter wonderland outside today, I thought I’d share some photos of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Spring Flower Show to bring you a breath of spring. It’s not here yet, but as sure as the sun rises every day in the east, spring will arrive sooner or later.
A Breath of Spring
If you have a chance to visit the flower show be sure to spend some time in the glass house just breathing in the sweet scents of the flowers in there. It is heavenly!
And linger by the displays. As you take them in you will see tiny creative details that you might miss at first glance. What a lot of work it must have been to create these beautiful displays.
Mary Oliver says in her poem, Spring, “There is only one question: how to love this world.”
As events in the world feel like they are spiraling into chaos and destruction, and the clamor of harsh judgment, lies and worries about climate change’s effects make me grieve, I turn to nature and compassion as my answer to the question of “how to love this world.”
Here’s what I’ve been watching, listening to, and reading lately for inspiration and courage:
- Charles Eisenstein Climate Series
- Tara Brach’s “The Rain of Self-Compassion“
- The website Resilience.org
- An old OnBeing interview with John O’Donohue on Beauty
-
Brené Brown OnBeing interview “Stong Back, Soft Front, Wild Heart“
May you find inspiration and comfort in nature and love this world.
May you walk in beauty.
