When I looked out the window today this robin was the first thing I saw. Luckily I had my camera in my hands with my long lens attached (Canon 100-400 mm, with 1.4 extender). The robin stayed just long enough for me to snap a photo. I like to think the worms in its beak are treats for babies in the nest underneath the deck.
A Colorful World
“The beauty and mystery of this world only emerges through affection, attention, interest and compassion . . . open your eyes wide and actually see this world by attending to its colors, details and irony.”
― My Name Is Red
Unlike when I saw the robin today, yesterday I did not have my camera in hand when I saw an albino squirrel in our backyard. It didn’t stay long and I haven’t seen it again, but what a shock it was seeing a pure white squirrel outside the window. Sometimes a lack of color stands out as much as bright colors.
“Let me, O let me bathe my soul in colours; let me swallow the sunset and drink the rainbow.”

And here is another photo from today. Although I am marveling at all of the green everywhere, there are many colors showing up in the trees in our neighborhood. Just look at the colors in this! These are the treetops I see behind our neighbor’s house across the street. Since the trees looked a bit like a pointillist painting to me I decided to blur it a bit.
Take some time today to notice this colorful world in springtime.
May you walk in beauty.
