shadows

The prompt for day 9 of December Reflections 2018 is Shadows. I immediately thought about this image. It’s the stairs to the door of the school where I take my community education watercolor painting class. Each time I leave class I pause to appreciate the wondrous shadows that the stair railing and parking lot lights create. It’s a work of art!

Thinking about shadows makes me realize how inextricably light and dark are woven together. You cannot have one without the other. It helps me appreciate this time of year when the daylight is shorter and clouds often cover the skies. Without experiencing this, I don’t think I would appreciate the bright days of mid-summer quite so much.

When walking through the ‘valley of shadows,’ remember, a shadow is cast by a light.” — Austin O’Malley

May you walk in beauty.
