Morning beauty…
Wednesday morning I woke up to a winter wonderland!
As I looked out the windows all around the house everything was coated with white.
I grabbed my camera and began making photos of the backyard and street in front of the house.
The light pole by the street in front of the house always reminds me of Narnia whenever there is new fallen snow.
The trees across the street stand like frozen sentinels, looking almost like a black and white photograph in the overcast morning light.
I love the dark curving tree trunks and branches against the stark white snow.
The trees across the pond call out with their beauty.
By the bank of the pond the trees create a lacy white curtain.
When I look out the window in winter I feel as if I am living in a cabin in the woods.
I admire the river birch we planted last summer. It is beautiful with it’s white covered branches.
By noon all of this beauty had disappeared. The snow had melted and fallen off most of the branches. The trees were bare once again.
“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
When was the last time you admired the beauty of freshly fallen snow? Why don’t you take time after the next snowfall to soak in the beauty.
May you walk in beauty.
