Woodlands are waking up

I made this photo yesterday with my iPhone on a walk in the woods at Big Willow Park. Signs of spring are all around us. Can you hear them, see them, smell them?

Signs of Spring…

  • the sound of geese honking overhead
  • ice out on the lakes and ponds
  • wood ducks are back on the pond behind our house
  • willow catkins are blooming
  • going for a walk without heavy coat, hat, and gloves
  • rain the forecast instead of snow
  • 3 Canadian geese in the pond this morning
  • 2 mallards wandering around the back yard this morning
  • grass is beginning to green
  • tiny green woodland plants are emerging
  • insects in the air on our walk yesterday
  • people outdoors running, walking, biking, playing
  • the sound of kids playing outdoors in the neighborhood
