We just returned from a long weekend in Two Harbors, MN, photographing the fall color along the north shore of Lake Superior. I went to a workshop taught by John Gregor from Two Harbors, and my husband Jon came along to enjoy the north shore beauty, and to help me lug my photography gear on our photo hikes.
It was such fun and so beautiful! Our days started before dawn and lasted until after sunset. The end of the three day workshop left us totally pooped but oh, so happy.
The colors along the shore were gorgeous. Golds and occasional glints of orange and red along with the spectacular scenery of Lake Superior made for a colorful weekend.
We hiked up to the top of Tofte Peak (after a jarring drive up a very rough road), hiked trails at Gooseberry Falls State Park, Tettagouche State Park, Temperance River State Park, a little falls area on the Baptism River called Glen Avon, Stoney Point, and Split Rock State Park.
Mornings were chilly with temperatures in the low 30’s. Daytime temperatures in the 40’s and low 50’s were perfect for hiking and photographing. The clear sunny mid-day skies were challenging for photography. None-the-less, it was a perfect weekend!
Even though the long days were challenging for me and I experienced a fair amount of pain, I was so pleased to be able to do this type of workshop. It was such an excellent learning experience!
When was the last time you took time out to learn and practice something that you love? Is it time to sharpen your saw?
May you walk in beauty.
