Quote of the day: “Try seeing your world and yourself this way, eyes open to whatever is before you, mind free of dichotomies. Are you good or bad, fragile or tough, wise or foolish? Yes. And so am I.” ― Martha N. Beck
I got a lovely small calla lily plant last week and have been loving the beauty and the imperfections of this small plant. Each leaf is full of personality, each flower unique, just as each of us is unique and filled with quirks and beauty and ugly all at the same time.
Embrace It All
It is so much more joyful to know that whether visible or not, each of us is full of contradictions and foibles. Perfection is a myth. But beauty isn’t. Embrace the beauty, and find beauty in the ugliness.
During this holiday season full of busyness, take some time for yourself. Take time to breathe and let something go from your busy schedule.
This year I did no holiday decoration or baking—none, at all! It has been so freeing to let it go. I love the holiday lights, decorations, trees and food, but decided this year to keep my Christmas simple and to focus on the meaning of the season more than the outward display. I made some of the gifts that I’m giving this Christmas and ordered the rest online. Even my gift-giving is less than previous years.
The blessing in all this is time to just be and to appreciate and embrace it all.
Try letting go of one thing to open up space in your life today. Take a deep breath. Smile. Look for beauty wherever you are.
