Quotes of the day:

Money = matter. Money = mattering. In our minds. Deep in the recesses of our cavernous minds, we have created this lie. — Jennifer Pastiloff in blog post And then it was time to let go

Pay Attention to What’s Easy for You

Those unremarkable happinesses, those second-nature ways that feel like you’re casually following Easy, those almost unbelievably easy breakthroughs…that is where your divinity lies. Go there, often. More often. Your essence is always waiting for you.

Happiness wants to come easy.

— Danielle LaPorte in blog post Take the Easy Way

I started working on a blog post over a week ago. I wrote, and edited, wrote, and edited, wrote and edited—but it never felt right to publish. Too preachy, too Pollyanna, not quite right… The litany of reasons for not publishing never ended. Time after time I returned to editing or polishing the post, but it never quite worked. I had planned to return to the post this morning.

Then I happened upon a blog post titled And then it was time to let go.

I realized that I believed that because I had spent a lot of time (time=money???) on this post, it was worth more time so as to not waste the time I had already spent. (Do you see the circular reasoning here?)

Then I read another blog post titled Take the Easy Way. Really, I did. I’m not making this stuff up.

“OK, enough said,” my mystical side decided. I’m sending that post to the trash bin.

Letting go. Taking the easy way.

Not so easy for my well-socialized self!

You know, the part that’s heard a million times, “No pain, no gain!”

The work hard, and tough it out school of thought.

But today, reflecting on how my 40 day photography challenge has been so easy and fun, following my interests each day, exploring new ways of seeing, learning new techniques—I totally get the idea of taking the easy way.

How about you? What wants to be easy for you today?
